cOURSES AND wORKSHOPS

Tengu School of Taiko holds regular recreational courses and a variety of beginner, through to advanced workshops throughout the year.
We also have intermediate classes for those who want to take things to the next level and have a go at performing.

Regular courses are held in York, Leeds and Pickering, for both adults and children age 12+ at beginner through to intermediate levels.

Workshops are great as an introduction to Taiko. You can either attend one at our dojo, or even book one for a group activity,
a corporate team building event, an activity at a festival, or as an alternative to a birthday party. We also provide workshops for schools, for all ages.

ABOUT JARED

Jared has been playing Taiko since 2009, and teaching since 2014. During his training he has travelled to Japan for workshops with Yoshikazu Fujimoto of world renowned Taiko group 'Kodo' and has also been taught by many other prolific Taiko teachers from around the world. After training a core group of students to performance level, Jared established the Tengu Taiko Drummers performing group in 2018, who have gone on to perform at many different events across the UK and beyond. In 2025 he achieved his dream of opening the Tengu Taiko Dojo (training centre) in York, which is a hub for running most of his classes and workshops, as well as a training space for the performing group.
